The Company

The Oriental Insurance Company Ltd was incorporated at Bombay as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Oriental Government Security Life Assurance Company Ltd and was formed to carry out General Insurance business. ORIENTAL with its head Office at New Delhi has 30 Regional Offices and nearly 900+ operating Offices in various cities of the country. The Company has overseas operations in Nepal, Kuwait and Dubai. Oriental specializes in devising special covers for large projects like power, petrochemical, steel and chemical plants.

Oriental has a work force of more than 15000 staff connected across more than 90 offices. Business is usually conducted face to face and coverage is instantaneous. OICL seeks to compete with the new age insurers in terms of depth and width of coverage and also in terms of product portfolio.

The Challenge

OICL required MPLS for 1000+ locations (dual link dual PoP), Roam Connect with 2 FA (750 Ids), Internet (Clean Connect), WAN Management & application Bandwidth Analyser, SIEM, FMS/Help desk at HO, WAAS at HUB & 414 locations. But there was a rider - OICL management wanted to go for an open RFP instead of renewing it further to understand market price & in line with CVC guidelines.

The Solution

OICL had existing contract with Sify for 1000+ locations MPLS for Primary backup ISDN. Sensing that OICL was up for a technology refresh, Sify had engaged with them for 2 years at all levels including the OEM & Sify internal teams. We have also have been able to add few services successfully which differentiate Sify from other Telcos; services from which OICL would benefit in the long term.

Sify Network expansion leveraged for delivery of services for 2 years. Hence quicker turnaround time. Integrated approach to include Telecom, MS & TIS so that we limit TELCO & SI and hence avoid price war. Capitalizing Sify's strength to score maximum on technical and cost fronts.

Selected CISCO as Network partner & had been building network around it. Credibility was key and this helped us get a huge differential from CISCO as compared with other competition. Show value add of Sify services for customer to analyze performance of Network, application, SLA, resolution of conflict with existing service provider for services other than network.
